Updated: Oct 21, 2023

DJI Mini 2 Connection Lost (Again) this time with DJI Fly App 1.2.4 Update for Android.

These DJI Mini 2 issues are getting more and more bizarre as you will see in this video it's not linked only to my model or to the latest DJI FLY APP 1.2.4 as it's happening regardless if I use iOS or Android.

Have you had any issues with your DJI Mini 2, make sure to let me know below the video, thanks.

The DJI Mini 2 is a compact, feature-rich drone that has captured the hearts of many drone enthusiasts. It offers an exceptional aerial photography experience, but like any technology, it's not immune to issues. One of the common frustrations that Mini 2 users encounter is the "Connection Lost" error.

In this blog post, we will explore the potential causes behind this issue and provide practical solutions on how to fix it, ensuring a smoother and more enjoyable flying experience.

Understanding the DJI Mini 2 "Connection Lost" Error

The "Connection Lost" error is often displayed on the DJI Fly app when the connection between the remote controller and the drone is disrupted. This disruption can be caused by several factors, both environmental and technical.

Common Causes of Connection Loss:

Signal Interference:

Environmental factors such as tall buildings, trees, or other electronic devices can interfere with the drone's connection.

Low Battery:

A low battery on either the drone or the remote controller can lead to a disconnection.

Range Limitations:

The DJI Mini 2 has a maximum range of operation, and flying beyond that limit can cause a connection loss.

Firmware Issues:

Outdated firmware on the drone, remote controller, or app can lead to connectivity problems.

App or Device Crashes:

Sometimes, the DJI Fly app or the device running it can crash, causing a loss of connection.

Radio Interference:

In areas with heavy radio interference, such as airports, you might experience connection issues.

How to Fix DJI Mini 2 "Connection Lost" Error:

Check Signal Interference:

Before taking off, survey the flying environment. Avoid areas with tall buildings and dense trees. Make sure there are no Wi-Fi or radio transmitters nearby that could cause interference.

Battery Management:

Always fly with fully charged batteries. If the battery level becomes low during flight, return the drone to a safe location immediately to prevent a disconnect.

Maintain Line of Sight:

Keep the drone within your line of sight and within the drone's operational range. Flying out of range is a common cause of connection loss.

Firmware Updates:

Regularly check for firmware updates for your Mini 2, remote controller, and DJI Fly app. Outdated firmware can lead to compatibility issues.

Restart the App and Device:

If you experience a connection loss during a flight, restart the DJI Fly app and the device you're using. This often resolves temporary software glitches.

Switch to a Different Frequency:

The DJI Mini 2 operates on both 2.4GHz and 5.8GHz frequencies. If you're experiencing interference, switching to the less crowded 5.8GHz frequency can help.

Calibrate the Compass and IMU:

Periodically calibrate the drone's compass and Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) to ensure accurate positioning, which can reduce the likelihood of disconnections.

Antenna Positioning:

Ensure that the antennas on your remote controller are correctly positioned. Hold the controller correctly, and try to avoid blocking the signal with your body.

Dealing with a "Connection Lost" error on your DJI Mini 2 can be frustrating, but understanding the potential causes and applying the right fixes can help you maintain a stable connection and enjoy your drone flights to the fullest.

Remember to always fly responsibly, within legal guidelines, and with safety in mind.

By following these steps and remaining vigilant, you can minimize the chances of experiencing connection issues and continue to capture stunning aerial footage with your DJI Mini 2.
